Let us begin.

Let me introduce myself,

My name is Brittany Davis.
I dance. I dance a lot. I love to dance... a lot.
I am twenty.
Currently a junior dance major at the university of the arts.
I reside in Philadelphia, but my heart is in Virginia Beach.
I take every opportunity I have to travel somewhere new.
I have the cutest little kitten, Mila.
I have the most wonderful boyfriend.
I have the greatest, most beautiful friends.
My life is just beginning.

2013 was a great, great year. I've been reflecting on it a lot lately, especially as we step into a new year. I was actually shocked by the memories that just slipped my mind as I kept pushing for time to pass, papers to be written, and events to come and go. I want to begin this blog... and this year... by sharing and reflecting on the simple, yet life-changing things that happened to me in 2013.

I brought in the new year in the beautiful Cancun, Mexico with my even more beautiful mother. Mayan Ruins, snorkeling, adventuring, and complete relaxation with a drink in my hand at all times. It doesn't get much better than that. (See my hot mom pictured below)

After the year began, I made a completely last minute trip to visit one of my dearest friends, Kayla, in her hometown of Newport, Rhode Island. Even in the winter, Newport is absolutely wonderful.

I got to take a little trip home south for Valentine's Day to spend the holiday with the one man who will always have my heart... Daddy.

One of the most rewarding experiences during my sophomore year at UArts was performing in my roommates senior piece. It was definitely a step out of my comfort zone... I mean, I scared my own father, but it took my dancing to a whole new level.

Finally... Spring Break! I traveled far and wide, across the states to my roommate and best friend's hometown of El Paso, Texas... which is America's best kept secret. I've never traveled to the west... or to the desert... or seen a mountain... or been hiking... or have experienced dry heat. It was a the best spring break by far. Oh an Whataburger at 2am is never, ever a bad idea.

To complete my spring semester, I performed a killer work by the one and only Sidra Bell with my peers at UArts. It. was. ah. maz. zing.

In April, I moved into a new apartment with my roommates and best friends: Rae, Christine, and Whitney. My Philadelphia Family.

And around the same time, I finally... finally quit my job. I worked as a manager and barista and a coffee shop that I lived above and it was tearing my to pieces. Even though I miss working in the coffee industry, I think it was for the better. My friends and family would agree.

In May, I took a short trip home with the one and only, TC. It's very true, every girl needs a gay best friend. And I am so happy I got to bring mine to my hometown. During that same trip, I also witnessed my father retire from 30 years in the United States Coast Guard and threw him a pretty spectacular party. I mean, 30 years... that's something worth celebrating. I was the most proud.

From Virginia Beach, I traveled all the way to Newport, Rhode Island to see my lovely friend, Kayla. Beaches by day, bartending by night. It was the life.

After a few weeks of working and boring stuff, I traveled with my father and two brothers, Brandon and Ryan, to a place we have never been to visit our family: Denver. I have never seen such beauty in my entire life. Everyday was filled with adventures in natural beauty and was finished with a glass of wine and a sunset over the Rockie Mountains with a view from 11,000 feet up.

Then again, back to the boring work life for a bit. Blah blah blah.
But then, I had the opportunity to go back to Denver and work with a ballet company known as Lemon Sponge Cake for a one week, high energy intensive.

From Denver, I went to the windy city for more dancing! I have the chance to work with River North Dance Chicago for 2 weeks. I feel in love with the city and the company.

Then, I began my junior year of college. (Half way there, woo!) And the day before, I took a trip to the Jersey Shore with Jersey's own and my pretty pretty roommate, Rae.

Celebrating both of my roommates 21st birthdays was definitely the highlight of my semester!

Halloween, Halloween! Mermaid and kitty cat, meow!

Finally, after over a year and a half of waiting... Catching Fire was released. And it brings me the most joy to have matching photos from The Hunger Games midnight premiere during Freshman year to the midnight premiere of  Catching Fire during Junior Year.

Right around this time, I met this guy... he's really coooool. and sweet. and cute. and talented. and hilarious. and all mine. Meet D.J, my boyfriend.

Thanksgiving came and for the third year, we spent it in Rehoboth Beach with my mom's side of the family, indulging in too much food and enjoying not having to clean up after it.

Sadly, right in the heart of finals week, I got the phone call from home that we had to put my best childhood friend down. She lived the best life and taught me what it was like to be loved unconditionally, she will forever be missed. RIP Cassie.

Showtime again! My favorite time of year! Performing original works by Helen Simoneau and Katrina Atkin.

Then I experienced snow in the city! Isn't UArts so pretty?

One of the best Christmas presents I have ever gotten was a split day trip to NYC with TC! Ice skating in Central Park, exploring down 5th Ave, BBQ dinner at Justin Timberlake's restaurant and winning lottery tickets to see Kinky Boots. It was magical.

Then... home for the holidays, which is always wonderful when spent with your new puppies, best friend since kindergarten (Caitlin), and family.

Lastly, I welcomed 2014 with an unexpected trip home and a kiss from muh boo.

So, hello 2014. I can't wait to see what you bring.

xoxo -bdavis
